WinZip is a file compression utility used to compact/compress files, making them easier to store and or transfer. WinZip may be used to "zip" and compress database backup files, fare files, etc.

The Hudson Group will routinely use WinZip to compress and password protect client fare and database files before uploading to Hudson servers for testing and troubleshooting.
