What do Update and Save DB mean at the bottom of a screen?

When you are adding drivers, vehicles, templates, line runs and other items, you need to click UPDATE  for each record that you add or modify, as soon as you have added or changed.  When finished in that section of the configuration, you click Save DB to save all of your record changes to the fare and configuration database.
