The Hudson Group Knowledge Base .: Credit Card Processing .: Issuing multiple credits through PRI

Issuing multiple credits through PRI

Payment Resources International (PRI) has upgraded their internet based credit card processing system to now allow Hudson clients to issue multiple credits against an initial credit card sale, totalling up to the value of the initial sale transaction. To illustrate this functionality with an example::

 1) I ran a credit card sale transaction for $1.00 and settled it.

2) I issued a credit for 50 cents, which returned a status of authorized

3) I issued another credit for 25 cents, which returned a status of authorized

4) I issued another credit for 25 cents, which returned a status of authorized

5) I issued another credit for 25 cents, which returned a status of Cancelled and a message of  “Amount exceeds original sale amount”

You can see from the example that the new credit function will allow multiple partial credits against a single settled credit card transaction up to the original amount of the transaction.  There is no limit on the number of partial credits that you can issue as long as the total amount does not exceed the original sale amount.
